Personal Philosophy

Every person is the protagonist of their own story. They have their own hopes, dreams, struggles, and secrets. Being aware of each individual's multiple facets, regardless of whether or not I know specifically what they are, enables me to treat each person I interact with as a special, unique individual who deserves my attention, respect, and interest. Therefore, whenever I am communicating with others, I work to maintain a warm and laid-back attitude while remaining professional and efficient. I have found through experience that this encourages people to engage in conversations with me.

 

Communication

I have experience in interviewing subjects for news, opinion, and feature stories. I work well in teams and generally assume a position of management if given the opportunity. I am also very interested in public relations: in this year's project The Author's Son, I worked as the public relations and promotions representative. Presenting the project to various services and organizations as the spokesperson, managing schedules and resources, and initiating and organizing promotional campaigns opened my eyes to the thrill of making interpersonal connections and enhancing communication through common interests. 

 

Software

I have been using Windows Movie Maker and other basic video editing software since I was in high school. Recently I was introduced to Final Cut Pro X and have been becoming as fluent as possible in it. I also have used WavePad during various coursework. I have applied my knoweldge of Pages in order to create eye-catching promotional posters and flyers during my internship, and I know my way around Google Drive and Microsoft Office. Also, I am developing an interest in Prezi and have created several slideshows for my summer writing seminar. Finally, I have been using Wordpress for my blogs.
